BMW 8 Series convertible

BMW has been working on something special - and if you ask us its Drop dead gorgeous. The New BMW 8 Series drop-top is on its way to battle the likes of Mercedes S-class and Audi’s A8.

And here are the official leaked images ahead of tomorrows unveiling of the BMW 850i bought to us by a Belgian motor company who published the official press shots of the new 8 Series Convertible.

With views of the interior and exterior, it’s clear to see that BMW is not holding back with the premium top of the line German engineering.

The convertible's bodywork largely resembles its hard-top brother, with a more aggressive stance and larger wheels indicating that this is the initial range flagship M850i version. We are most definitely awaiting the all singing, all dancing M8 Convertible which is due to launch several months after the standard car and have been told to expect at least 630bhp from a twin-turbocharged V8.

As we can see BMW has produced the 8 Series Convertible with a traditional cloth fabric roof as appose to the folding hard top. As such, this results in less weight, improved weight distribution and a better lower sense of gravity. However, don't expect it to be a go-kart around the track, as its still likely to weight 2 tonnes given its luxury executive nature and as its a convertible we can expect additional structural underpinning to keep it at ridged as possible.

We know that the M850i is powered by a 530bhp, 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 as per the coupe, however, we do not expect this to be as quick given the added weight. Expect a 0-62mph of 3.9sec time given the weight, but it should still easily be capable of reaching 155mph (limited).

The interior shows a nice sized four-seater which should suit four adults comfortably, with the rest of the cabin remains identical to the coupé.

The 8 Series Convertible is the latest model in BMW's product line up following its new Z4 roadster, with further models from the all-electric i4 saloon coming to a street near you.
