The Bugatti Divo

Bugatti is back with the ultimate Hyper sports, the Divo, named after the Targa Florio winner, Albert Divo.

Bugatti’s new Divo is powered by the same 8.0-litre W16 engine in its brother the Chiron, which still cranks out 1500PS with the top speed limited to 236mph.

The Divo lighter, a lot lighter and that's what makes it a better drivers car than the Chiron. Stephan Winkelmann, the boss at Bugatti, says the Divo is ‘made for corners’ due to a copious amount of dynamic tweaks.

The Divo is 35kg lighter with up to 90kg more downforce than the Chiron approximately 456kg in total. The completely redesigned front splitter guides more cool air to the cooling system, air flows through vents in the headlights and out of slats in the front wings, even the roof is designed to create an air duct. The rear spoiler is 1.83 metres (72 inches) wide which is 23% wider than the Chiron’s wing – and the rear diffuser is deeper and houses a unique quad tailpipe.

Bugatti has tweaked the steering to deliver a more immediate hands-on response over the Chiron, increased the wheel cambers and omitted the ‘top speed’ mode seen on the Chiron.

The biggest highlights on the exterior are the 3D-effect rear lights. A total of 44 individual fins light up, with thicker fins towards the outer sides and thinner ones towards the centre for a blended effect.

Inside, some of the storage compartments have been removed and Alcantara upholstery can be seen on loads of the interior surfaces to save weight. There’s a two-tone colour layout that mixes ‘Divo Racing Blue’ with the ‘Divo Grey’. We wouldn't say no.

Bugatti says the new hypercar will be homologated as a road car – something the 40 Chrion owners that stumped up €5m a pop will appreciate.
